Positive pressure treatment

Continuous positive airway pressure is an effective treatment for any degree of severity of sleep apnea. (CPAP) This treatment consists of applying a positive pressure in the respiratory tract with a mask. This prevents structures from collapsing, which causes respiratory arrest.

The surgery (UPPP - uvulopalatopharyngoplasty)

An otorhinolaryngologist (ear-nose-and-throat specialist) performs this surgery. It consists of removing the uvula and a portion of the soft palate to clear the upper respiratory tract. In order for the surgery to succeed, the physician must be able to identify the structure causing the collapse.

Anterior mandibular positioning device

This type of treatment is used for snoring and light obstructive sleep apnea syndrome cases. It increases the space for the oropharynx by moving forward the lower jaw and the tongue, which keeps the upper respiratory tract open while the patient sleeps.

A physician must prescribe this treatment.

(The Centre cardio-respiratoire Outaouais team cares about your ease of adaptation to the new treatment, which is why we offer you regular follow-ups and the chance to try various masks. Because of your treatment, your nights are peaceful and restful, you stopped snoring and your quality of life as increased greatly!)
